Google Calendar for Slack
Connecting Google Calendar to Slack helps you and your team stay organized and up to date with notifications, event reminders, and more.
Tip: Install the Google Calendar for Team Events app to post updates from a shared calendar to a channel.
Add the Google Calendar app to Slack
To use the Google Calendar app in Slack, one person needs to install the app to your workspace. Once the app is installed, members can connect their calendars to Slack.
Install the Google Calendar app
- Visit the Google Calendar page in the Slack App Directory.
- ClickAdd to Slack.
- ClickAllow to grant Google Calendar access to Slack.
- When prompted, clickOpen Slack to return to your workspace.
Tip: If you're on Slack's Enterprise Grid plan, you can install the Google Calendar app at the org level and add it to any workspaces that need access to Google Calendar from the admin dashboard.
Connect your Google Calendar to Slack
Once the Google Calendar app is installed to your workspace, follow the steps below to connect your account:

- From your desktop, clickApps at the top of your left sidebar. If you don't see this option, click More to find it.
- Search for and selectGoogle Calendarto open the app.
- From the app'sHome tab, clickConnect an account and follow the prompts.
- ClickOpen Slack to return to your workspace.
- From the Home tab, tapJump to at the top of the screen and search for Google Calendar.
- TapGoogle Calendar to open the app.
- From the app'sHome tab, tapConnect Calendar and follow the prompts.
- TapDone.
Use Google Calendar in Slack
Create an event
Schedule meetings, invite people, and share meeting invitations in conversations from the Google Calendar app.

- Click Apps at the top of your left sidebar. If you don't see this option, click More to find it.
- Search for and select Google Calendar to open the app.
- From the app's Home tab, clickCreate event in the top right.
- Enter a title for your event, then search for and select people to invite.
- Choose a date and duration. Open the drop-down menu below Available times to select a time when all invitees are available, or selectPick a c ustom time.
- If you'd like, add event details in theDescription field.
- To post your event invitation in a channel or direct message (DM), make sure the box next to Share this meeting with is checked. Then, select a conversation from the drop-down menu.
- ClickCreate.
- From the Home tab, tapJump to at the top of the screen and search for Google Calendar.
- TapCreate event.
- Fill out your event details, then tapCreate to add the meeting to your calendar.
Anyone you've invited will receive a notification in Slack from the Google Calendar app. Invitees can respond to your event from that message or their calendars.
Tip: If the Zoom app has been set as a default calling app for your workspace, you can add a Zoom link to your event from the Calling drop-down menu.
View your schedule and respond to events

- From the Home tab, clickToday,Tomorrow, or Select a date to see all events for a particular date.
- To view details about an upcoming event, like the location, guest list, and description, click the three dots icon to the right and selectView event details.
- Open the app'sMessages tab to respond to events or update responses.
- From the Google Calendar app's Home tab at the top of the screen, tapToday,Tomorrow, orSelect a dateto see all events for a particular date.
- To view details about an upcoming event, like the location, guest list, and description, tapMore to the right, thenView event details.
- Open the app'sMessages tab to respond to events or update event responses.
Automatically update your Slack status
Using your calendar, the Google Calendar app will automatically set your Slack status toIn a meeting.
- Your status will not include the name of the meeting you're attending.
- You can remove or update your status at any time — the Google Calendar app won't override any status you've set yourself.
- Only the events you accept, or that mark your availability asBusy, will trigger a status update in Slack.
- If there are overlapping events on your calendar, Slack will set your status to match the event that's longer or that starts earlier.
Note: To manage status syncing, click the app's Home tab, then select Settings to turn Status Sync on or off.
Adjust notification settings
You can tailor your Google Calendar notification settings in Slack by following the steps below:

- From your desktop, click Apps at the top of your left sidebar. If you don't see this option, click More to find it.
- Search for and selectGoogle Calendar.
- From theHome tab, clickSettings in the top right.
- Below your calendar, clickNotification Preferences.
- Set your notification preferences and clickUpdate.
- ClickDone to save.
- From the Home tab, tapJump toat the top of the screen and search for Google Calendar.
- Tap Google Calendarto open the app.
- From the app'sHome tab, tapSettings.
- Below your calendar, tapNotification Preferences.
- Set your notification preferences and tapUpdate.
Tip: To manage your daily schedule, open the app'sHome tab, then selectSettings to turn your daily schedule on or off or change the delivery time.
Connect additional calendars
If you'd like to receive updates from other calendars that have been shared with you, connect them by following these steps:

- From your desktop, click Apps at the top of your left sidebar. If you don't see this option, click More to find it.
- Search for and select Google Calendar to open the app.
- From the app's Home tab, click Settings.
- Below Accounts, select a calendar from the drop-down menu.
- Click Done.
- Open the Slack app on your device.
- From the Home tab, tap Jump to at the top of the screen and search for Google Calendar.
- Tap Google Calendar to open the app.
- From the app's Home tab, tap Settings.
- Below Accounts, select a calendar from the drop-down menu.
Note: You can only turn on status syncing for your primary calendar.
Disconnect a calendar

- From your desktop, click Apps at the top of your left sidebar. If you don't see this option, click More to find it.
- Search for and select Google Calendar.
- From the Home tab, click Settings in the top right.
- Click Settings.
- Below the calendar you want to disconnect, click Disconnect Calendar.
- Click Yes to confirm.
- From the Home tab, tapJump toat the top of the screen and search for Google Calendar.
- TapGoogle Calendar.
- From the app'sHome tab, tap Settings.
- Below your calendar, tapDisconnect Calendar.
- TapYes to confirm.
Fix calendar syncing issues
If events are missing or out of date in the Google Calendar app, following the steps below may resolve the problem:
- Visit the Google Calendar page in the Slack App Directory.
- Click the Configuration tab.
- Below Your Authorization, click Revoke.
- After the page reloads, click Add to Slack to reconnect your calendar.
