    How do I format my hard bulldoze (Win 98) for my dwelling PC?

      How-do-you-do
      1-fill-in any data you need to another media (floppy,tape ..ect).
      2-commencement->seeting->control panel->add/remove software ->(TAB) windows setup-> create a startup disk (Kick disk you lot demand to boot with when reformating).

      iii- LEave the boot disk in drive A: then Reboot your system.
      4- if you accept A CD chose option one to make CD available.

      v- There are option for format. a quick one
      simply no check for errors -> format c: /Q.
      format c: .

      more than information for format:
      start->run->format /?

      proficient luck.

      The but thing I would add together to the higher up is to do

      format C: /s

      You demand the /southward switch to transfer system files to the hard bulldoze, which makes it bootable. Otherwise, your drive will exist formatted OK, but the computer won't kicking.

      Create a startup disk or bootable disk.insert the diskette to your pc then plow on your pc wait until the pc boot to diskette,simply fdisk first type a:\fdisk then enter choose three delete partition 1 to create segmentation.Format your harddisk type a:\format c: /south /u enter

      your question is kinda vague…are you trying to format your drive and then you tin re-install win98 from scratch or are you just trying to format a partition on your hard bulldoze?
      if you accept multiple partitions on your difficult bulldoze and you are not trying to erase your os (your c: bulldoze) all you have to do is double click my reckoner right click on the drive you wish to format and click on format.
      if yous are trying to format your hard drive os included and then just put your win98 cdrom and win98 boot deejay in restart your pc you will accept a choice to start setup with cdrom support (click on it striking enter) one time information technology get to a point where you see A: blazon this:

      A:\format c:

      In Win98, get to:
      Start
      Shutdown
      Check "Restart in MS-DOS Fashion" box
      Click "Ok"

      at the C:\WINDOWS>
      type in:
      cd\

      Should wait like this:

      C:\WINDOWS>cd
      then press Enter on the keyboard

      Now type in:

      format c:

      (substitute whateverdrive letter yous want hither d: f: h:)

      it should wait like this on your screen:

      C:\format c:

      hit the enter cardinal

      When it asks you if you are certain (you are certain, aren't you?) press the y key

      ok showtime let back up all your data. Then you will neeed to make a boot. to do this you will need to get to control panel add/remove programs and there is a tab to the correct that says kicking disk or start disk. click on that tab identify a floppy drive in the unit and then click on create. once that is washed and all you info is backed up you will want to reboot the unit of measurement with the floppy in the drive. the choose start windows with cd rom back up. so at the a: yous will type FORMAT c: — and if you lot need to brand any partitions you tin can utilise fdisk utility a:fdisk and so create your partition restart and so format the hard drive.
