Yous make information technology and then simple, but when I go into "program defaults" (which is the first identify I went before coming here) and I try to modify my default zilch happens. It is similar, Window and Microsoft are proverb "Screw You! You are using Edge if you like it or not!"  Therefore since the right way doesn't piece of work then what does ane do to change this? I take tried to become in and alter administrator settings in case that is the trouble, but none of the sometime work around'south work.

I am very frustrated with this aspect of Windows 10 and I have no desire to employ whatever Windows browsers as they never work correctly. Tin someone delight tell me how to set this?

Thank you,

Sj

P.S. Never-mind! Don't do it in the new settings panel, but go into the control console and change it just similar you used to do.  Why Microsoft added the stupid settings panel is beyond me. I generally featherbed it, only for some reason I didn't this time! Solved my ain Puzzle

Yep. The archetype UI works fine. In that location is a problem in the Default Apps when using a local account usually (which was once a Microsoft account and later switched dorsum, or some of the apps are all the same using Microsoft account credentials.) causing Default Apps to neglect when generating the hash when setting file associations.

Well this is my observation afterward seeing so many cases, and noted some workarounds hither.

One of these options helps.

1) Switch to MS business relationship

2) If you decide to use a local account, then erase all MS credentials in your Accounts Settings page.

3) Utilise classic UI (regardless of whether you use Local or Microsoft account).
